Woman hurt in fog related car crash involving 18 wheeler

A 63-year-old woman was hospitalized after a highway car accident that occurred in the fog early Monday in Nemaha County. The Kansas State Highway Patrol said a 2005 Buick 4 door car was parked on US-36 highway about a half mile east of Seneca waiting for a train to pass. A second vehicle didn't see the Buick because of the fog. The second vehicle, a 2001 Kenworth 18-wheeler truck hit the car with the rear of its trailer.

The driver of the Buick, identified as Margaret A. Pallesen, of Seneca, was taken to Nemaha Valley Community Hospital with injuries she suffered in the crash.

The driver of the truck, Michael V. Kraft, 55, of Richmond, Mo., was reported uninjured.

Both Pallesen and Kraft were reported to have been wearing seat belts.
