Two Men Injured in Highway Accident

Two Hispanic men were transported to the Floyd Medical Center early Wednesday morning with serious injuries after a driver lost control of a van coming into Rome at a high rate of speed.

The accident occurred on Highway 20 at Salem Drive. The vehicle veered off the road, hit a parked two and a half ton truck, then snapped through a utility pole. Seven men were in the van, but only two were transported to the Floyd Medical Center.

Several Rome Police Officers responded when they discovered they were closer than the repsonding County Police Officers. This paid off when one of the Rome Officers spoke Spanish and were able to translate for fellow emergency personnel.
