Auto Pedestrian Accident Ft. Worth

woman was killed early Monday when she was struck by two vehicles on the northbound service road of Interstate 35W near Seminary Drive, police said.

The incident was reported at about 6 a.m., said Sgt. Rodney Bangs, supervisor of the Traffic Investigation Unit.

The 54-year-old woman, whose name was unavailable at 8:15 a.m., may have walking to get roadside assistance for a stranded vehicle, Bangs said in an e-mail.

“She was struck by a delivery van driver who stated that he did not see her in the roadway,” Bangs said.

The woman was hit a second time by a Dodge pickup truck that was following behind the delivery van, Bangs said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, he added.

Police declined to release her name because her family was not yet notified, but a vehicle that was registered to her was found nearby, Bangs said.

“Investigators believe that she may have been walking to seek help due to her vehicle breaking down,” Bangs said. “Due to the circumstances criminal charges are not anticipated.”

Ft. Worth Texas Auto Accident Medical Condition

A 76-year-old driver who hit six vehicles near the intersection of Bryant Irvin Road and State Highway 183 in southwest Fort Worth may have had a medical emergency that caused the accident, police said.

Donaldson Frizzell of Fort Worth, died at John Peter Smith Hospital on Thursday, the medical examiner’s office said.

Frizzell was driving a tan Cadillac northbound on Bryant Irvin about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when he began weaving, police said. At the intersection of Highway 183 and Bryant Irvin, Frizzell hit a Subaru sedan and careened off a pickup.

His car continued northbound across a grass median and up an embankment before crashing through a guardrail onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 183. He then struck a Dodge truck and a Chevrolet sedan before stopping.

Police did not suspect alcohol as a factor in the accident. The medical examiner’s office will determine whether Frizzell suffered a medical emergency that could have caused the accident.

Alvarado Auto Accident Carrie Bowman

A woman who aspired to teach school in her hometown of Alvarado, Texas died Thursday from injuries she received in a three-vehicle wreck.

Carrie Bowman, 28, died at 6:37 p.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where she was taken by helicopter ambulance after the accident on U.S. 67, according to reports.

Bowman, an instructional aid at Alvarado Intermediate School, was driving eastbound on U.S. 67 when the accident happened, said Alvarado Police Chief John Allen.

Chris Everett, principal at the intermediate school, said Bowman was “a vibrant, energetic and incredibly supportive part of our team.”

“There weren’t many days that she did not have a smile,” Everett added. “Our hearts are saddened that she’ll not be with us and, even though she’s in a better place, she will be greatly missed.”

Superintendent Chester Juroska said Bowman was “a beloved employee” mourned by students and faculty.

She was a 1999 graduate of Alvarado High School who was working toward a college degree and a teacher’s certificate, Juroska said. She was assigned to a computer lab where she worked with about 80 students each day, he said.

Bowman also coached the fifth- and sixth-grade spelling team for the academic University Interscholastic League competition, Juroska said. She also advised the scrapbooking club.

“I personally knew her well,” the superintendent said. “I had mentored her on some assignments. But she is my daughter’s age, which really comes home to me.”

Grief counselors were sent to the school, Juroska said.

He noted that Bowman had a daughter in the first grade.

The accident happened at about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 5500 block of U.S. 67, near the intersection with County Road 810, Chief Allen said.

Bowman’s 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was struck by an eastbound 2009 Kenworth tractor-trailer that had just been involved in a collision with a 2007 Ford Focus, Allen said.

The truck driver, a woman from Ellis County, told police that the Focus, which had been south on CR 810, entered the intersection and hit the front left wheel of the truck.

The truck driver said the impact disabled the steering on the rig, which went out of control and into the path of the Cobalt, Allen said.

The driver of the Focus, an Alvarado-area woman, said the truck hit her car first, Allen said.

The acciden was still under investigation on Friday.

Two babies, ages 2 months and 18 months, were passengers in the Focus, but they were strapped into car seats, Allen said. The woman and the children were taken by ambulance to the hospital. They did not appear to have serious injuries, he said.

The truck driver was not hurt, Allen said.

Ft. Worth Teen Car Crash

A Fort Worth community is grieving tonight after a 17-year-old boy is killed in a car crash.  The teen was apparently going too fast down Boat Club Road Friday afternoon when he slammed into another car.  He died upon impact.

Flowers adorn the spot where 17-year-old Cameron Jeansonne’s life ended; the spot is now serving as a make-shift memorial.  On Saturday, those who knew Cameron gathered to pay their respects.

They came with heavy hearts to pay respect and to reflect on the life of a friend lost too soon.  Cameron is being remembered by friends as a young man who loved life and LSU football equally.  He was a member of the Boswell High School junior varsity football team.  He had an uncanny ability to quickly connect with his peers.  Peers like Ryan Applewhite who are now left to mourn his unexpected loss.  “The reality of it didn’t kick in until we all went to the locker room this morning.”

Mangled metal is all that remained following the horrific accident.  Police reports say Cameron was simply driving too fast down Boat Club road when he lost control and barreled into tow other cars.  The impact proved too much for Cameron, he died at the scene.

Cameron Jeansonne is from Louisiana, friends say that is where he will be buried.  They also say this is one life lesson they will never forget.
