Helicopter Ambulances make flights in Texas
Like many Southeast Texas residents, Linda Ebarb of Vidor heard the air medical transport helicopters passing overhead on occasion.
She knew the people working onboard the red helicopters did important work, but beyond that, she didn’t give it much thought.
“I think everyone knows the service is there, but nobody ever thinks they’ll have to use it,” Ebarb said.
On May 30, Ebarb, her husband and three of her grandchildren were involved in a car accident on FM 105 as they were traveling from Evadale to Vidor.
Ebarb, 55, said the last thing she remembers after the accident is emergency rescue telling her they were going to cut her out of the car.
She blacked out and woke up in the Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital intensive care unit in Beaumont a few days later.
“From what I understand, my injuries were such that I had to be taken in the helicopter instead of by regular ambulance,” she said.
