Pedestrian Dies in Fatal Automobile Accident
A 93-year-old man died from injuries sustained after he was run over by a motorist.
Police said Agustin Zamorano, of Donna, died after he tried to cross Miller Avenue at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 493, said Donna police Det. Ric Suarez.
Zamorano was hit by Alma Peña, 37, of Donna, who was attempting to turn from Miller Avenue north onto FM 493. He was transported to McAllen Medical Center, where he later died.
Peña told police the early morning sun glare on her winshield obscured her vision, making it difficult to see Zamorano attempting to cross the street, Suarez said.
No crosswalk exists at the intersection.
No charges have been filed in the case, Suarez said.
